Nic is a seasoned professional in the forest industry with a vast background in forestry, honing his expertise as a silviculture contractor and in various harvesting operations he transitioned into management roles first working for the Freightways Group in logistics and security.
He then moved back into forestry as a Technical Service Manager at Interpine Forestry Ltd before moving to Fletcher Challenge Forests, and currently, PF Olsen Ltd, where he has dedicated the last 20 years.
Throughout his career, Nic has accumulated comprehensive experience in forestry management, particularly focusing on health and safety and quality systems.
For the past 25 years, he has made significant contributions to these disciplines including as a representative serving on the New Zealand Forest Owner's Association Safety and Training Committee and more recently the Forest Industry Safety Council Advisory Group. Nic was a member of team that produced the 'Growing a Safety Culture' initiative, which has become the industry standard for culture and leadership development.
In terms of quality management systems Nic and his team maintain three ISO standards (HS 45000, QMS 9001, and Environmental 14001). These certificates have been held by PF Olsen Ltd for more than 20 years.
Nic takes pride in his pragmatic approach, leading industry initiatives that have earned him national recognition through prestigious awards. His commitment to safety is evident in his passion to reduce harm and his certifications, e.g., holding the NEBOSH International General Certificate in OSH Management and Certificates in Quality Management, Auditing, and Investigations.
With a track record of excellence, Nic remains a highly regarded national manager in the forestry sector, continuously driving innovation and safety measures.
